Participate in research

See below for a list of research studies we are currently running.

These studies are being conducted by the BYU Language and Brain Lab under the direction of Jeffrey Green.

Peanut (IRB2021-282)

Who: Native speakers of Spanish or Mandarin who learned English as a second language.

What: During the study, you will listen to some sentences and look at pictures on a screen while we monitor your eye movements. Contact lenses are preferred to glasses, if needed. The study will last 50-60 minutes.

Compensation: You will receive course credit or $15 in Cougar Cash for your time. Participants without a BYU ID will receive an Amazon gift card.

Mr. Rogers (IRB2022-364)

Who: Monolingual English speakers or English speakers who recently learned Spanish or Russian in an immersion setting.

What: You will be asked to complete a language background questionnaire, a proficiency exam (unless you only speak English), and then to read/listen to English words while we monitor your brainwaves.

Compensation: You will receive either course credit or up to $42 in Cougar Cash for your time, as well a certificate of proficiency based on your exam.
